You hike 30 minutes through jungle, then zip-line five times and cross two suspension bridges down to seven waterfalls where you jump, slide and swim between stops. Lunch, all safety gear, park entry and transport back to port are included. The whole excursion takes 4 to 5 hours, so you're back before the ship departs.
The first zip line comes faster than you'd expect. After a 30-minute hike through the jungle from the visitor center, the canopy opens up and suddenly you're clipped in, helmet on, looking down at the treetops. Five lines total, plus two suspension bridges that sway a little more than you anticipated—the kind of moment where your stomach catches before your brain catches up. Your guide stays close, checking gear and talking you through the rhythm of each line, and then you're dropping through the air with the sound of the jungle underneath.
The seven waterfalls reveal themselves as you descend. You hike, jump, slide into pools, and swim between stops—it's not a passive walk-and-look situation. The water is cold and clear, and the rocks are slippery enough that you move carefully, but the guide knows where the safe spots are. The Dominican Republic's national park fees and all the equipment—life jacket, helmet, the works—are already included, so you're not stopping to pay or rent anything along the way. It's just the rhythm of moving through the landscape, one waterfall to the next.
By the time you get back to the visitor center, you're wet and tired in the good way. There's time to change clothes, and then lunch arrives: a buffet-style spread with Dominican food, drinks included, and vegetarian options if you need them. One Coke per person, and the guide eats with the group, so there's a natural moment to catch your breath and ask questions about what you just did. After that, it's the shared transport back to Amber Cove, usually arriving mid-afternoon.
The whole thing runs 4 to 5 hours from pickup to drop-off. It's built for cruise passengers on a port day—the timing is tight enough that you're back before the ship leaves, but long enough that you actually get to do the thing instead of just seeing it. Groups stay small, which means the guide can keep an eye on everyone on the lines and in the water.
