You hike 40 minutes through jungle to reach the zip lines, then descend five lines and cross two suspension bridges down to the 7th waterfall. From there, you jump, slide and swim through a series of canyons and pools at your own pace, moving downward through the cascade. After changing clothes, you eat a Dominican buffet lunch before heading back to the ship. The whole day is scheduled to fit a standard port stop.
Damajagua sits about 30 minutes inland from Amber Cove, and the tour starts with a moderate uphill hike through jungle that takes roughly 40 minutes. The path gets you to the 12th waterfall, where the real work begins: you'll zip line down five separate lines and cross two suspension bridges, dropping steadily toward the 7th fall. From there, the waterfalls become your playground—you jump into pools, slide down natural rock chutes, and swim through canyons on your own terms. Nobody rushes you through a sequence; you move at the speed that feels right, and the guide stays with the group.
The zip lines and suspension bridges are the technical part, and you're harnessed the whole way. All safety gear comes with the tour, and a professional guide handles the setup and checks. Once you reach the 7th waterfall, the hike down becomes less structured—you're still moving downward through the canyon, but the waterfalls themselves are the route, and you decide how long to stay at each one. Swimmers only, and the weight limit for zip lines is 260 pounds (118 kg).
After you've worked your way down to the 1st fall and climbed back to the visitor center, you'll change into dry clothes and eat a buffet-style Dominican lunch with vegetarian options. Soft drinks and bottled water are included throughout the day. The return to port is built into the schedule, and the tour is timed so you're back well before your ship leaves—but you need at least 8 hours in port for this one to work.
River conditions can shift the number of falls you actually reach; if the water is too high or low, the operator will adjust the itinerary to the falls that are safely open that day. Severe weather or unsafe river conditions can cancel the tour entirely, and you'll get a full refund if that happens. At booking, you'll need to provide your ship's name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time so the timing stays locked to your departure.
