The Experience

We stopped at the Ron Macorís factory first—Carlos handed me a tiny cup of coconut rum and just laughed when I coughed (it’s stronger than it looks). I’ll admit I bought a bottle for home. No regrets.

I didn’t expect to care about chocolate that much, but watching them pour thick liquid onto trays at the chocolate factory was weirdly hypnotic. The smell—deep and earthy—stuck to my clothes for hours. They let us taste pieces still warm from the kitchen; honestly, I’ve never had anything like it. Then we wandered through Pink Street—every surface painted this wild bubblegum color.
