Jeju Day Tour: UNESCO Sites & Volcanic Landmarks
Walk inside a World Heritage lava tube and climb a volcanic peak formed five thousand years ago
A full-day guided tour of Jeju's UNESCO and World Natural Heritage sites, departing from either Seogwipo or Jeju City, with a driver speaking English, Japanese or Chinese. The itinerary changes by departure point: from Seogwipo you visit Seongsan Ilchulbong, Oedolgae rock formation, Jeongbang Waterfall and Manjanggul Cave. From Jeju City you see Hamdeok Beach, Manjanggul Cave, Seongsan Ilchulbong and either Seongeup Folk Village or another coastal site. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, as are fuel and parking. Manjanggul Cave is closed for renovation through August 2025, so an alternative site replaces it during that period.

Jeju World Heritage and UNESCO Tour
- Visit Oedolgae sea stack
- Explore Jeongbang Waterfall
- Walk Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone
- Tour Manjanggul Lava Tube
The experience
The tour runs seven to eight hours and covers Jeju's volcanic geology in one day. Seongsan Ilchulbong, a tuff cone that erupted on the ocean floor about five thousand years ago, sits at the center of most itineraries. You walk to the summit for views of the volcanic crater and the surrounding sea, or follow one of the marked trails through the UNESCO geopark. The driver handles all transport between sites, so you move through the island without managing a rental or navigation.
Manjanggul Cave, one of the world's largest lava tubes at 7.4 kilometers long, lets you walk about one kilometer into the main tunnel. The cave formations (stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and a 7.6-meter lava column) show the geology that shaped Jeju over thousands of years. If you depart from Seogwipo, you also reach Jeongbang Waterfall, the only waterfall in Korea where water falls directly into the sea, dropping 23 meters down a black cliff. Oedolgae, a 20-meter stone pillar rising from the water, marks the start of Jeju Olle Trail Course 7 and carries local legends about a general from the Yuan Dynasty era. From Jeju City, Hamdeok Beach offers emerald water and white sand, with an overpass on the west side that lets you walk out over the sea. Seongeup Folk Village, still inhabited, preserves the old Jeju way of life and is designated an Important Folklore Cultural Heritage.
The vehicle size adjusts to your group: up to four people travel in a regular taxi, five to eight in a jumbo taxi or minivan, and nine or more in a mini-bus. All fuel and parking fees are included in the price. The driver speaks English, Japanese or Chinese, so communication about timing and questions about the sites happens in your language. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, meaning you don't arrange separate transport to and from your accommodation.

Is this one for you?Choose your departure city based on which attractions draw you most: Seogwipo tours center on the waterfall and the rock formation at sea level, while Jeju City tours add a beach and the folk village. Both routes include the volcanic peak and the lava tube, so the difference is the coastal versus cultural stops you prioritize.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Japanese and Chinese.
What is Seongsan Ilchulbong and why is it on this tour?
Seongsan Ilchulbong is a tuff cone landmark of Jeju formed about five thousand years ago from an underwater volcanic eruption. It's a UNESCO site and one of Jeju's top ten scenic spots, known for sunrise views and for the volcanic crater visible from the summit. Walking the trails here shows both the geopark geology and local culture.
Can I walk inside Manjanggul Cave, or is it just a viewing tour?
Manjanggul Cave is a walking tour. You enter the lava tube and walk about one kilometer into the main tunnel, where you see stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and the world's highest known lava column at 7.6 meters. The cave is closed for renovation through August 2025, so an alternative site replaces it during that time.
Which departure point should I choose, Seogwipo or Jeju City?
Seogwipo tours include Seongsan Ilchulbong, Oedolgae, Jeongbang Waterfall and Manjanggul Cave. Jeju City tours include Hamdeok Beach, Manjanggul Cave, Seongsan Ilchulbong and either Seongeup Folk Village or another coastal site. Choose based on which attractions interest you most and which city your hotel is in.
Is lunch included in the tour price?
Lunch is not included. You'll have time at stops to eat, but food and drinks are your own expense.
How does the vehicle size work if I'm traveling with a group?
The tour uses regular taxis for up to four people, jumbo taxis or minivans for five to eight people, and mini-buses for nine or more. The driver and all fuel and parking are included in the price, so the cost covers the whole vehicle for your group size.
