The experience
The day starts with hotel pickup and heads to Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak on Jeju's east coast, a volcanic formation that rises 182 meters from the sea. The climb to the top takes about 30 minutes from the ticket office. If climbing is difficult, a shoreline walk is available instead. After descending, you'll naturally reach Haenyeo Performance Beach, where a female diver show runs daily at 2 p.m. (weather permitting). The peak's distinctive silhouette, said to resemble a crown, comes from the 99 stone pillars that form its outer shell.
Stone Culture Park is a sprawling museum and ecological park built around Jeju's stone heritage. Exhibition halls cover the Jeju Stone Museum, traditional thatched-roof architecture, and stone sculptures tied to local folklore. The park sits in front of Oreum, a unique volcanic cone, and the viewing path winds through displays at a pace you control. Sangumburi Crater, a parasitic volcano on Hallasan Mountain, is the only submerged crater on Jeju. Its outer circumference spans 2,067 meters and its depth reaches 100–146 meters, forming a conical cliff that is unique in Korea.
The coastal drive between Woljeong-ri Beach and Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is considered the best route to see Jeju's shoreline. Woljeong-ri has become known for its emerald-colored sea and cafes with ocean-view seating that have become photo spots. Seopjikoji is a drama filming location and coastal promenade where you can see Seondolbawi Lighthouse and occasionally spot women divers working in the sea. The Haenyeo Museum, located in a fishing village overlooking white sandy beach, holds exhibits donated by haenyeo themselves, including an actual haenyeo house, and displays food culture, childrearing practices, and the history of Jeju's diving women. The tour also includes time at a traditional Jeju market where you can observe daily life and find food unique to the island. At the end of the day, the driver drops you at your hotel or your starting location.
