Jeju accessible sightseeing tour

  • Explore Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak observation deck
  • Visit Gwangchigi Beach

The experience

The tour runs nine hours total, counting travel, meals, and rest stops. You'll start with pickup at your accommodation, then head to Jeju Stone Cultural Park, a museum and ecological park that displays the island's stone culture across a large, accessible grounds. From there, the route moves to Saryeoni Forest Path, a walking trail through cedars and native trees at 550 meters altitude. You can walk or roll as far as you want and turn back when you're ready. The driver speaks English throughout and handles all navigation and parking.

The centerpiece is Seongsan Ilchulbong, a 180-meter volcanic peak that erupted underwater about 5,000 years ago. An observation deck course is wheelchair-accessible at no extra charge. If you want to reach the summit, that's a paid add-on. Nearby, Gwangchigi Beach shows lava formations and black sand created from weathered basalt, and Ojopogu village sits on the coast with views of Seongsan Ilchulbong and a wooden bridge you can roll across. The van has windshields, so the tour runs even on rainy days. You can also choose to add Jeju Railbike (a four-wheeled electric bike that runs on a railroad track for about 35 minutes), or skip it depending on what suits your day.

The operator rents electric wheelchairs and bathroom chairs if you request them in advance. The group stays small: one wheelchair user plus up to three companions in the van. Weather can shift the schedule, so the driver will adjust stops and timing as needed. Pickup is included from your hotel or accommodation.

Can I do this tour if I use a wheelchair?

Yes, the tour is built around wheelchair access. If you need an electric wheelchair instead of your own, tell the operator in advance and they'll have one ready.

What is Seongsan Ilchulbong and can I reach it in a wheelchair?

Seongsan Ilchulbong is a 180-meter volcanic peak on Jeju's east coast that formed about 5,000 years ago when lava erupted underwater and mixed with seawater. An observation deck course is wheelchair-accessible at no extra charge. The paid summit course ($4 per person) is not wheelchair-accessible, but the observation deck gives you views of the crater and surrounding coast.
