The experience
Sangumburi Crater is the only submerged volcano on Jeju Island and one of only a handful of its kind worldwide. The crater floor sits 100 to 146 meters below the rim, and the outer circumference stretches 2,067 meters around a conical cliff. Unlike most volcanic craters, this one never accumulated lava: the explosion dug deep and scattered material outward, leaving a geological oddity called a maar. You descend into the crater itself to stand on the crater floor and look up at the trees and stones that ring the sunken walls.
Jeju Stone Park occupies a vast landscape where you move through exhibits showing how Jeju's people built with stone for centuries. You see thatched houses, stone walls, and the farming tools (axes, plows, scrapers) that Jeju craftspeople carved from volcanic rock. An underground exhibition hall displays the creation process of caves formed by volcanic eruption, and screens show the geological transformation of the island after lava cooled. The park sits in front of Oreum, a natural heritage site, and the viewing path winds through stone sculptures tied to local legend.
Your driver is registered with the South Korean taxi authority and carries transportation insurance. Pickup happens at your airport, hotel, port or accommodation, and the tour returns you to that same location. The vehicle is air-conditioned, parking and fuel are covered, and all admission fees to both sites are included. You can request changes to the itinerary at any time if there's a specific place you want to visit instead.
