The experience
You arrive in Jeju with a free afternoon or a full day, and the last thing you want is to navigate buses or figure out which taxi driver knows the island. A private car meets you at your hotel, airport or port and stays with you for the duration: no switching vehicles, no waiting for other passengers. The driver has years of experience with foreign travelers and speaks basic English, so you can ask about what you're seeing as you go. Parking and fuel are already covered, so there are no surprise costs along the way.
The route typically moves through Jeju's volcanic landscape and coastal villages. Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, rises from the sea and takes about 30 minutes to climb. The haenyeo performance happens at 2pm on the beach below (weather can cancel it suddenly). Woljeong-ri Beach, on the eastern shore, has shallow water and cafes where you can sit and photograph the emerald sea. Seongeup Folk Village preserves traditional thatched houses and stone-wall alleys where you walk at your own pace and listen to stories in English. Manjanggul Lava Cave is a 1-kilometer underground passage formed 100,000 to 300,000 years ago, with a 7.6-meter lava column, the largest known in the world, and takes roughly an hour to walk through (it's cold and dark, so go slowly). All entry fees to these sites are included. If you want to skip a stop, add a different one, or linger somewhere, tell the driver and the itinerary shifts.
Lunch is discussed with you before the day starts, so you eat where you want to eat. The tour runs between 5 and 9 hours depending on how many stops you choose and how long you stay at each one. At the end, the driver returns you to your hotel, airport, port or wherever you started that morning. The Manjanggul Cave closes the first Wednesday of every month, and the Jeju Stone Culture Park closes Mondays, so the driver will know which sites are open on your date.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Japanese and Chinese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (13 to 17 years); Child (7 to 12 years); Infant (1 to 6 years).
Can I book a private tour for just one or two people, or does it have to be a larger group?
Private tours run for any group size, from one person up to 30. A single traveler or a couple books the same way as a family of six. You pay per vehicle, not per person, so smaller groups fit into a standard car.
What is the haenyeo performance at Seongsan Ilchulbong, and will it definitely happen on the day I visit?
Haenyeo are traditional woman divers who perform at 2pm on the beach below Seongsan Peak, diving and surfacing in a choreographed show that has been part of Jeju culture for centuries. The performance can be canceled suddenly if the divers are unavailable or the weather turns rough, so it is not guaranteed, but the peak itself is always open to climb.
Is there time to actually walk around Seongeup Folk Village, or is it just a quick stop?
You walk through Seongeup at your own pace along the stone-wall alleys, seeing the traditional thatched houses and learning about village life from stories told in English. You can also shop for Jeju specialties there, so the length of your visit is up to you.
How cold and difficult is the walk through Manjanggul Lava Cave?
Manjanggul is a flat, 1-kilometer underground passage that takes about an hour round trip and requires no climbing. The interior is very cold and dark, so bring a jacket and walk slowly to let your eyes adjust, but it is suitable for most fitness levels. Wheelchair access is not available inside the cave itself.
Does the price include everything, or will I have to pay extra for entry fees and parking?
All admission fees to the attractions, parking and fuel are included in the tour price. You pay separately only for lunch and any personal shopping or drinks you choose along the way.
