The experience
Seongsan Ilchulbong is the centerpiece: a tuff cone that rose from the ocean floor about 5,000 years ago and now stands as one of Jeju's most recognizable landmarks. You can walk the Seongsan-Ojo Trail across the peak or take the shorter Jijil Trail for closer views of the UNESCO-designated geopark and the volcanic crater. The summit offers views of both the crater's interior and the ocean beyond. At 2 PM each day, haenyeo, Jeju's legendary female divers, perform at Seongsanpo Port nearby, demonstrating the diving techniques and breath-holding skills that have sustained their community for generations. This performance is the reason the tour times the way it does.
Seopjikoji, a short drive from Seongsan Ilchulbong, is a clifftop cape where the landscape drops sharply to the sea. The name means "Cape of Small Land" in the Jeju dialect, and the terrain is distinctive enough that you might spot Jeju ponies grazing on the grass. Two buildings designed by architect Ando Tadao (the Glasshouse and Yumin Art Gallery) sit here and blend into the landscape. Walking northeast along the cliff leads to Bulgeunoreum Parasitic Cone and views of a white lighthouse against dark blue water.
Seongeup Folk Village is designated as an Important Folklore Cultural Heritage, but it is not a museum: people live there still. The village residents volunteer as guides and share information about daily life in old Jeju. You can try wearing Hanbok, the traditional Korean costume, if you want. Two old trees (a Saw-leaf Zelkova and a Japanese hackberry) stand in the village center and are worth the time to see. The tour also includes Manjanggul Cave, one of the world's largest lava tubes at 7.4 km long, though you walk only 1 km into it as a tourist. The main tunnel is 18 m wide and 23 m high, and a 7.6 m lava column at the end of the accessible section is the highest in the world. If Manjanggul is closed (it closes the first Wednesday of each month for maintenance), the Jeju Haenyeo Museum replaces it in the itinerary.
Your driver handles all pickup and drop-off from your location in Jeju, and entrance fees are included. The tour runs 7 to 8 hours depending on your starting point and how long you spend at each stop. Fuel, parking, and insurance are covered. If you depart on a Monday, note that Jeju Stone Park and the Haenyeo Museum close that day, so your driver will recommend alternative stops instead.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Japanese and Chinese.
What is Seongsan Ilchulbong and why is it worth visiting?
Seongsan Ilchulbong is a tuff cone that formed about 5,000 years ago from an underwater eruption and is now one of Jeju's top scenic spots. You can walk trails across or around the peak: the Seongsan-Ojo Trail crosses it, and the Jijil Trail offers closer views of the UNESCO geopark. The summit shows both the volcanic crater and the surrounding ocean, and it's also where the haenyeo performance happens at 2 PM each day.
Can I watch the haenyeo divers perform, and when does it happen?
Yes, the haenyeo performance takes place every day at 2 PM at Seongsan Ilchulbong. The tour is timed so you can watch these female divers demonstrate the breath-holding and diving techniques that have been central to Jeju's culture for generations. You can also visit the Jeju Haenyeo Museum to learn more about their history and community.
What is Seongeup Folk Village like, and is it a real place where people live?
Seongeup Folk Village is a living heritage site where people still reside, not a reconstructed museum. It's designated as an Important Folklore Cultural Heritage, and village residents volunteer as guides to share information about traditional Jeju life. You can try wearing Hanbok, the traditional Korean costume, and see two old trees (a Saw-leaf Zelkova and Japanese hackberry) in the village center.
What happens if Manjanggul Cave is closed on the day of my tour?
Manjanggul Cave closes the first Wednesday of each month for maintenance. If it's closed, the Jeju Haenyeo Museum is offered as an alternative stop instead. The cave itself is one of the world's largest lava tubes at 7.4 km long, though the tourist route goes only 1 km into it, passing stalactites, stalagmites, and a 7.6 m lava column.
Does the tour include pickup from my hotel or cruise terminal?
Yes, pickup and drop-off from your location in Jeju are included. The tour departs from either Jeju city or Seogwipo city depending on where you are staying, and the itinerary adjusts accordingly. If you're arriving by cruise ship, the driver will pick you up from your terminal and time the return to your ship's departure.
