Step-by-step itinerary

Explore Jeju East with nature and culture

  • Walk Saryeoni Forest Path
  • Visit Seongeup Folk Village
  • Pick tangerines at farm
  • Climb Seongsan Ilchulbong peak
  • Drive along Jongdal-ri Coastal Road
  • Tour Haenyeo Museum
  • Enjoy lunch and travel between sites

The experience

How much ground can you cover in a day on Jeju? This tour answers that by threading together four distinct landscapes in eight to nine hours. You start at Seongsan Ilchulbong, a 182-meter volcanic tuff cone that rises from the coast and holds UNESCO World Natural Heritage status: the crater sits 5,000 years old and opens onto views of the ocean and nearby islands. From there the route moves inland to Saryeoni Forest, a 550-meter trail lined mostly with Japanese cedar but also oak, birch and cypress, preserved well enough to rank among Jeju's top 31 hidden attractions. The path is quiet and popular with hikers who want a break from the busier sites.

Seongeup Folk Village sits at the foot of Mt. Halla and holds the island's cultural weight: black lava rock walls, wind-blocking alleys, residential houses, Confucian shrines, ancient government offices, and Harubang stone grandfather statues passed down through generations. You walk through this landscape and see how Jeju's people built their lives around the volcanic terrain. Then comes the tangerine farm, where you step into rows of trees laden with fruit (green or yellow depending on the season), and pick your own. Jeju tangerines ripen from October through February, and the harvest turns the whole island yellow except in the city centers. You also get photos of yourself in the rows. The Haenyeo Museum, dedicated to Jeju's woman diver culture and inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, rounds out the cultural stops, and you drive the Jongdal-ri Coastal Road, an 11-kilometer stretch along the water said to be one of Jeju's most beautiful coastal drives.

Lunch and travel time between sites fill the remaining hours. A government-licensed guide speaks English or Japanese throughout, and the van holds a maximum of 15 passengers. Hotel pickup is included, so you don't arrange your own transport to the start. The tangerine-picking experience may carry an additional cost of 5 to 7 USD per person depending on the farm and crop conditions. The operator will let you know if that applies on your date.
