The experience
You start with a hike up Mt. Halla on the shortest of the mountain's 46 trails, Eoseungsaengak, covering 2.6km over about an hour. The route climbs to views of Baeknokdam crater at the summit and the northern half of the island spreading below. After descending, you'll have time for a local lunch at a smaller restaurant the guide suggests (vegetarian options are available), before heading to the coast.
The afternoon moves through three coastal stops. At Jusangjeolli Cliff, hexagonal and pentagonal rock columns rise 40 meters from the lava, formed by rapid cooling thousands of years ago. A cafe overlooks the dramatic waves. You then walk Jeju Olle Trail 7, described as one of the most beautiful seaside promenades, which leads to Oedolgae Rock, a 20-meter sea stack standing alone offshore with pine trees growing on its crown. The walk is gentle and the scenery shifts with each step.
The tour ends at Cheonjiyeon Falls, where a U-shaped valley surrounded by warm temperate forest opens onto the water. The name means "the pond where heaven and the earth meet." From there you move to O'Sulloc Tea Museum and Innisfree Jeju House at the same location, where you can try fresh matcha ice cream, organic Jeju green teas, and skincare products made with Jeju ingredients. Hotel drop-off in Jeju City completes the day.
