The experience

The day starts with a camel ride to a natural spring where Bedouins and desert animals drink, then a steep climb up the mountainside to fig trees overlooking the spring. From there you drive through the Lawrence of Arabia filming site to a sand dune with 360-degree views. You can hike to the rocky outcrop at the top or rent a board to slide back down. The route passes the Aladdin and Star Wars IX filming locations on the way to Um Frouth Bridge, a moderate climb that opens onto a sunset view over the White Desert.

A 30-minute canyon hike through one of the desert's most striking formations comes next, with the jeep waiting at the far end. You'll also see Lawrence of Arabia's house with an optional climb for views, Mushroom Rock (where traditional Bedouin music and tea are sometimes available), and Burdah Rock Bridge, the largest natural bridge in Wadi Rum. An easy hike through Burdah Canyon is possible if time allows.

After sunset, you settle into a traditional tent at Magic Bedouin Camp for dinner and stargazing by the fire. Morning brings breakfast and Bedouin tea before departure. Your guide speaks English and Arabic throughout, and bottled water is provided all day.
