The experience
You arrive in Wadi Rum and begin with a camel ride to Lawrences Spring, a popular introduction to desert travel. From there, the jeep takes you to Khazali Canyon, where you walk inside to see ancient rock carvings. The guide stops at the Small Arch so you can scramble to the top for photographs, then drives to Um Frouth Rock Bridge for another climb and views across the landscape. A fresh Bedouin picnic lunch happens partway through the afternoon.
Late in the day, you reach a slot canyon and walk through it on foot: a 30 to 45-minute passage with narrow sections and open desert views, sometimes ending with time for sandboarding on the dunes. If you start in the afternoon, the guide brings you to Um Sabatah to watch the sunset over tea around a campfire. You then head to Desert Moon Camp, an authentic Bedouin settlement at the heart of Wadi Rum, where you sleep in a private tent with a shared bathroom. The camp has wifi, hot water, a telescope, and views across the desert.
Dinner and breakfast are buffet-style. The camp also provides bottled water and Bedouin tea throughout your stay. On the second morning, after breakfast, the guide drives you back to Wadi Rum Village. The whole experience is led by a Bedouin guide who travels with you and explains life in the desert as you move through the landscape.
