The experience
You meet at Hasan group parking area before 11 a.m. on day one and head straight into the jeep for a 5-hour tour across Wadi Rum's red sand dunes and rock formations. The route passes the Martian movie location where the film was shot, then climbs toward Seven Pillars of Wisdom, a historical landmark tied to T.E. Lawrence's account of the Arab Revolt. A lunch break comes at Um Frouth Rock Bridge, a 15-meter natural arch where you can climb to the top for photos, then continue to Mushroom Rock and a panoramic viewpoint over the valley before heading back to camp as the sun drops.
After dinner and Bedouin tea by the fire, you sleep in a camping tent in the desert. The next morning, a camel ride at sunrise takes you across the mountains and open landscape before breakfast and the return to the meeting point. The guide is a local Bedouin who speaks English and Arabic, and all meals (lunch, dinner and breakfast) are included. Children from age one are welcome, and pickup from your hotel in Aqaba is part of the booking.
The trek on foot happens after sunset on day one, starting at a viewpoint where you watch the light fade over the desert while sipping traditional Bedouin tea. The walk explores Wadi Rum at a relaxed pace before you return to camp. The second camel ride, at sunrise, is shorter and gentler than the jeep tour, letting you see the mountains and desert from a different angle before you leave.
