The experience
How do you get onto the Amalfi Coast without renting a car or joining a crowded group? The boat leaves from Maiori, moored and ready, or you can arrange pickup from Amalfi, Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Positano or Minori instead. The Gozzo Sorrentino is a working wooden boat (launched in May 2021 from the Mimì shipyard in Naples) built to handle the Mediterranean swells with the stability and speed that let you cover real distance in a day. Eight people maximum means no queues, no strangers' schedules, and a cabin below deck with a kitchenette, refrigerator, toilet and berths if anyone needs to rest.
The route strings together the landmarks that define this coast. You swim around the Li Galli islands, a three-island archipelago between Capri and Positano where legend places the sirens who sang to Ulysses. The Emerald Grotto near Conca dei Marini is a sea cave lit by refracted light. You approach by water, which is the only way in. Positano itself is the stop for a walk through the town: pastel buildings stacked on the cliff, narrow alleys, boutiques and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Lunch lands at a trattoria in one of the private bays and coves, reachable only by boat. The afternoon includes another swim along the coast before the return.
Snorkeling equipment is on board. Bottled water, sodas, beer, wine and Prosecco are included, along with snacks. The captain speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and one additional language. The full day runs seven to eight hours.

Is this one for you?If you're staying in Praiano, Positano or elsewhere on the coast without a rental car, arrange pickup from your town and skip the drive to a distant marina. The boat's small size and multiple embarkation points mean the day starts where you are, not where the operator parks.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24h before the start.
Can I board the boat from Praiano or Positano instead of Maiori?
Yes. Embarkation can be arranged from Amalfi, Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Positano, Minori or Cetara in addition to the mooring in Maiori. You choose the departure point when you book.
What is the Emerald Grotto and how do you get inside it?
The Emerald Grotto is a sea cave near Conca dei Marini, lit by refracted sunlight that turns the water inside an intense green. The boat brings you to the entrance. You enter by water, which is the only way to reach it.
Is lunch included, and where do you eat?
Lunch is included at a traditional trattoria located in one of the private bays and coves along the coast, accessible only by sea. The restaurant is on request, so you can arrange it when you book.
What swimming and snorkeling opportunities are there?
You swim around the Li Galli islands in the morning and have a relaxing swim along the coast in the afternoon. Snorkeling equipment is provided on board.
How many people can the boat hold?
The Gozzo Sorrentino accommodates a maximum of eight people, including the captain, which keeps the group small and intimate.
What is below deck on the boat?
Below deck there is a kitchenette with sink, a refrigerator, a separate toilet room and two berths plus one additional bed, so the boat can serve as a rest space during the day if needed.
