The Experience

The boat leaves from Sorrento area, but the day starts in Amalfi town itself — a driver picks you up near Piazza Flavio Gioia and takes you to the port, about 90 minutes each way. It sounds like a lot of transfer time, but it means you don't have to figure out how to get there yourself, and the minivan ride gives you a first look at the coast before you're even on the water. One thing to know: the Blue Grotto isn't included because the waiting times are brutal.
