Four grottoes, the Faraglioni, and a full afternoon in Capri's most exclusive harbor

A private boat tour departing from Maiori or Minori on the Amalfi Coast, sailing to Capri for a full day of sea caves, rock formations and coastal swimming. The boat holds a maximum of six passengers, giving the group flexibility to linger at each stop and choose whether to enter the Blue Grotto (ticket purchased on-site). Prosecco, beer, limoncello and snacks are aboard. Three hours ashore in Marina Piccola leaves time for lunch at a waterfront restaurant and a walk through Capri's inland streets. The return journey includes a swim stop at the Li Galli Islands before heading back to port with a glass of prosecco.

The experience

The boat is a traditional Gozzo, newly built in 2023 or 2025, 26 feet long with a canopy for shade and a separate toilet. You leave from either Maiori or Minori in the early morning and sail along the Amalfi Coast, passing through the marine protected area of Punta Campanella where the water and cliffs draw the eye before you reach Capri itself. The route passes old defensive towers, hidden beaches and sea caves, so even the transit is part of the day.

Once at Capri, the boat moves through the White Grotto first (white limestone walls and crystal-clear water lit by sunlight filtering through the rocks), then to the Natural Arch, a collapsed grotto dating from the Paleolithic age. The Faraglioni come next: four imposing rock formations (Saetta, Monacone, Stella and Scopolo) that are the most photographed landmark on the island, and the boat pauses here so you can take photos and videos. The Green Grotto follows, where the water shimmers emerald green and stalactites hang from the ceiling. You can swim here if you choose. The Blue Grotto is optional and requires a separate ticket purchased on-site. The operator notes that access depends on sea conditions and can be limited by rough swells, strong winds or long queues of waiting boats.

Marina Piccola is the stop where the day opens up. You have three hours ashore in this exclusive harbor to have lunch at a typical waterfront restaurant, explore Capri's inland streets and shops, or simply sit by the water. On the way back to Maiori or Minori, the boat stops at the Li Galli Islands (three small islands off Positano known as the Mermaid's Islands) for a final swim in the crystalline water. The return to port includes a glass of prosecco and time to watch the coast pass. The whole day runs seven to eight hours from departure to arrival back at your starting point.

What’s included

  • Prosecco, beer, limoncello and Aperol Spritz in a cooler.
  • soft drinks (Coca-Cola, lemon soda and bottled mineral water).
  • dry snacks including chips, peanuts and olives.
  • a traditional Gozzo boat with canopy shade and onboard toilet.
  • three hours free time to explore Capri inland and have lunch at a waterfront restaurant in Marina Piccola.
  • a swim stop at the Li Galli Islands on the return journey.
  • a glass of prosecco on the way back to port.

Top questions

What languages is the guide in?

Live guide in English, Spanish and Italian.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What are the four Faraglioni rocks and why do they matter to Capri?

The Faraglioni are four imposing rock formations: Saetta (the only one attached to the island), Monacone, Stella and Scopolo, that have inspired legends and artists for centuries and are considered the heart of Capri's identity. The boat pauses at them so you can photograph and video them up close.

Can I swim in the grottoes, or just look at them from the boat?

You can swim in the Green Grotto if you choose. The White Grotto and Natural Arch are viewed from the boat. The Blue Grotto requires a separate ticket purchased on-site and access depends on sea conditions. Rough swells, strong winds or long queues can limit entry.

How much time do I have to explore Capri itself?

Marina Piccola, where the boat stops, gives you three hours ashore. This is time enough for lunch at a waterfront restaurant, a walk through Capri's inland streets and shops, or simply to rest by the water.

What drinks and food are included on the boat?

Prosecco, beer, limoncello and Aperol Spritz are in a cooler aboard. Soft drinks include Coca-Cola, lemon soda and bottled mineral water. Dry snacks (several kinds of chips, peanuts, olives and others) are provided. Lunch at Marina Piccola is not included and is ordered at the restaurant.

What is the Li Galli Islands stop like?

Li Galli is an archipelago of three islands off Positano, known as the Mermaid's Islands. The boat stops here on the return journey so you can swim in the crystalline emerald water surrounding the islands before heading back to port.

Does the boat have shade and facilities?

The Gozzo has a canopy for shade on the aft (rear) and a separate toilet aboard for passenger comfort. The boat was newly built in 2023 or 2025.
