The experience

If you have a full day free in Capri and want to see the island from the water instead of the crowded shore paths, this tour circles the entire coast by boat. You'll start with a tour of the island itself (passing Marina Grande, Marina Piccola and a natural arch), then head to the Faraglioni, the three rock formations that rise from the sea and are Capri's most recognizable landmark. You can photograph them and sail under the arch of love, a narrow passage between two of the rocks.

The real draw is the swimming. The boat stops several times in secluded coves and natural pools where the water is clear enough to see the seabed. You dive in with a mask and snorkel, or float with the provided tubes. The Green Grotto and Blue Grotto are both on the route. You'll enter them by boat and can jump in to swim. Between stops, you're on deck in a relaxed atmosphere. The crew brings a welcome drink, light snacks, water, Coke, beer and Prosecco. The whole day runs about seven and a half hours, with the skipper navigating and the boat's fuel included in the price.

A guide speaks English or Italian throughout. Infants sit on an adult's lap, and the pace suits all fitness levels. Most of the day you're either on the boat or in the water, not hiking or climbing. Bring a swimsuit and sunscreen. The towel is provided.
