The experience
The boat leaves Positano's pier in the morning and heads south toward the Li Galli archipelago, the mythological home of the sirens, before reaching Capri's eastern shore. You'll pass between the Faraglioni, the two limestone stacks that define the island's silhouette, and stop to swim in the coves below them. The water here is deep and clear, and the snorkeling equipment is on board if you want to use it.
The tour then moves to the sea caves: the Blue Grotto (entry is separate and costs extra), followed by the Green Grotto and White Grotto, each one named for the color the light makes underwater. You'll also pass the Punta Carena lighthouse on the island's western point. The boat carries a small cabin, a kitchen, a toilet, and a minibar stocked with soft drinks, wine, beer, prosecco, water, tea, and snacks, all included. WiFi is available on board, and towels are provided.
After the caves, you disembark at Capri's main pier and have time to walk the Piazzetta (the island's central square and social heart), and explore the waterfront on your own. Lunch is your choice from any restaurant in town. The return journey to Positano takes about two hours, and the whole day runs roughly seven hours from start to finish. The boat operator offers several vessel options at checkout, each with its own capacity and character.
