The experience

The boat leaves from Positano's main beach and heads south along the coast, passing Fornillo beach and the wild expanse of Tordigliano before reaching the dramatic Crapolla fjord and Punta Campanella lighthouse. Most tours include a pass by the Blue Grotto (weather and sea conditions permitting, entry is optional and costs extra), then the Green Grotto with its emerald-lit waters, and a stop at Marina Piccola, a protected bay on Capri's southern side where restaurants and beach clubs line the shore.

The Faraglioni (three iconic limestone stacks rising from the sea) anchor the island's image and offer the kind of view that justifies the trip alone. You'll also sail past the Li Galli islands, three small rocky islets off the coast steeped in legend.
