The experience
The boat leaves Positano and heads toward Punta Campanella, the scenic point where the Sorrento Peninsula meets the Amalfi Coast, before crossing toward Capri's eastern shore. From there, the route passes through the natural arch in the Faraglioni (three famous rock stacks named Stella, Mezzo and Scopolo), where the water is clear enough to photograph straight down. The guide navigates to the White Grotto next, a sea cave with white limestone walls and stalactites that sits partially above water, offering a quieter experience than the more famous Blue Grotto nearby.
The Blue Grotto itself is the day's signature stop, though entry depends on sea conditions and the height of the swell at the cave's narrow entrance. When accessible, small rowboats ferry visitors inside to see the dazzling blue light caused by sunlight filtering through underwater cavities. The tour also passes Li Galli, the small private islands off the coast where Homer's Sirens were said to live, and includes time for swimming in the clear waters around these stops. The Faro di Punta Carena, Italy's second-largest lighthouse, marks the southwestern tip of Capri and offers views across the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Drinks (water, soft drinks, beer, prosecco and limoncello) come aboard, along with snacks and appetizers. Towels and a life jacket for each passenger are provided. The skipper manages the boat while the guide handles the route and the stories behind each site. Eight hours means you leave in the morning and return to Positano by late afternoon, with no need to arrange separate transport to the dock.

Is this one for you?Eight hours is a full morning and afternoon, so you'll return to Positano by late afternoon with time to rest or explore the town before dinner. The small group size, maximum 10 people, means you're not competing for space or photo angles at the Faraglioni or inside the caves, unlike the larger tour boats that visit the same sites.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the Blue Grotto like when you get inside?
The Blue Grotto is a sea cave where sunlight passes through underwater cavities and bounces off the water, filling the entire cave with an intense blue glow. Entry is by small rowboat through a low, narrow entrance, and the experience depends on sea conditions: rough swells can make entry impossible on the day you visit.
Can you swim during the tour?
Yes, the tour includes swimming time at multiple stops around Capri and at Li Galli, where the water is clear and calm. Towels are provided on board.
How many people fit on the boat?
The boat holds a maximum of 10 people, which keeps the group small and intimate compared to larger tour boats that visit the same sites.
What are the Faraglioni?
The Faraglioni are three famous rock stacks rising from the sea near Capri, named Stella, Mezzo and Scopolo. The boat passes through the natural arch in Mezzo, making it a popular spot for photos of the rocks from the water.
What drinks and food are included?
Water, soft drinks, beer, prosecco and limoncello are available on board, along with snacks and appetizers. You bring your own lunch or eat before or after the tour.
Is the White Grotto worth visiting if I see the Blue Grotto?
The White Grotto is a separate sea cave on Capri's eastern coast, named for its striking white limestone walls and natural formations. It sits partially above water and features stalactites and crystal-clear pools, offering a quieter, more intimate experience than the Blue Grotto because fewer boats visit it.
