Step-by-step itinerary
Capri private boat tour highlights
- Board traditional gozzo boat
- Explore Capri coastline
- Pass Faraglioni sea stacks
- Visit Blue Grotto cave
- Swim in Mediterranean Sea
The experience
The gozzo is built shallow and narrow so it slips under the meter-high mouth of the Blue Grotto where larger boats cannot go. You skip the line at the entrance and float into the cavern to watch the water glow electric blue: a trick of light bouncing off the limestone floor and back through the entrance. The same boat then takes you past the Faraglioni, three limestone peaks that rise straight from the sea and host rare seabirds, and to the Punta Carena lighthouse on the island's far point.
A swimming stop breaks up the tour so you can jump into the Mediterranean and float in the water yourself. The boat carries adult and child life vests, an easy climbing ladder to get back on board, clean towels, and drinks: water, soft drinks, beer, wine or prosecco depending on what is stocked that day. Your skipper handles all the navigation and timing. You choose which of five languages he speaks before you book.
The tour runs three hours total. Public transport reaches the departure point, and infants travel free if they sit on an adult's lap. The boat suits all fitness levels, though you will be climbing a ladder to reboard after the swim.

Is this one for you?Three hours is long enough to reach the Blue Grotto, swim, and see both the Faraglioni and the lighthouse, but short enough to leave your afternoon free for the island's villages and restaurants once you're back ashore.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 6 years); Infant (under 3): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly is the Blue Grotto and why does it glow blue?
The Blue Grotto is a sea cave carved into Capri's coastline where sunlight enters through an underwater opening and bounces off the limestone floor, making the water inside appear vivid blue. The gozzo's shallow draft lets it pass under the meter-high entrance where larger tour boats cannot fit.
Will I get to swim in the Mediterranean during the tour?
Yes, the tour includes a dedicated swimming stop where you can jump in the water. Life vests are provided for all ages, and an easy climbing ladder helps you climb back onto the boat.
What are the Faraglioni and what will I see there?
The Faraglioni are three tall limestone peaks that rise directly from the sea off Capri's coast. The boat passes close enough to see the rare wildlife that lives on them, and they are known for their dramatic shape and beauty.
Is the tour private, or will I be sharing the boat with other groups?
This is a private boat tour, so you book the gozzo for your own group. The skipper is dedicated to your party for the full three hours.
What drinks and food are included on the boat?
Mineral water, soft drinks, beer, wine and prosecco are included according to availability. Food is not provided, though you can bring your own or eat before or after the tour.
Do I need to arrange transportation to where the boat departs?
Public transportation options are available near the departure point. The tour does not include hotel pickup or drop-off, so you will need to make your own way there.
