The experience
You board a luxury yacht at Marina Grande and spend three hours circling the island's entire coastline. The boat carries no more than 12 people, so the group stays small enough to move through narrow cave entrances without crowding. A live guide narrates in English or Italian as you pass the Punta Carena lighthouse, the Mermaid's Rock from Homer's Odyssey, and the sheer 297-meter cliff where Roman emperors once ruled. The skipper times the route to catch the caves when light hits them best.
The Blue Grotto is the centerpiece: you'll enter through its low, narrow opening and float in crystalline water lit by refracted sunlight from below, creating that famous iridescent blue. The visit is subject to waiting times that don't exceed an hour, and the skipper may adjust the stop if conditions make it unsafe or would cut too far into the rest of the day. Beyond the Blue Grotto, you'll explore the White Grotto with its limestone walls, the Green Grotto with its emerald-lit interior, and the Sailors' Cave, each one a different kind of natural formation. You'll also pause at the Faraglioni (four rock formations rising from the sea) to photograph them up close.
Two swimming stops let you snorkel with provided masks and fins in clear water. The boat has a bathroom, changing cabins, a hot-water shower and sunshade, so you can rinse off between swims. An aperitif with prosecco, limoncello, local snacks, water, beer and soft drinks is served onboard, and you can charge your phone or camera on the yacht. The tour picks you up and drops you off at private docks or piers, and you choose between a 10:00am or 1:00pm departure. Bad weather may force a reschedule or full refund. The Blue Grotto ticket is bought separately at the site.

Is this one for you?Choose the 10:00am departure if you want to spend the afternoon exploring Capri's town and shops after the tour ends. The 1:00pm start works better if you're arriving mid-morning or prefer a later return. Either way, the three-hour duration fits a half-day plan without eating into a full day on the island.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly is the Blue Grotto and why is it so famous?
The Blue Grotto is a sea cave on Capri's coast with a low, narrow entrance that opens into a chamber lit by sunlight filtering through an underwater opening. The refracted light turns the water an intense iridescent blue. Ancient Romans considered it sacred. Today it's one of the most photographed natural sites in Italy, and the play of light on the water is what makes it unmistakable.
Can I snorkel if I've never done it before?
Yes. The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels, and the snorkeling stops are in calm water near the boat. Masks and fins are provided, and the guide is there throughout. You're not required to snorkel. You can swim or simply float if you prefer.
What are the Faraglioni and why do people photograph them so much?
The Faraglioni are four massive rock formations rising straight from the sea off Capri's coast. Named Saetta, Monacone, Stella and Scopolo, they've inspired artists and legends for centuries and are the most iconic image of the island. The tour pauses here so you can photograph them from the water, where they look their most dramatic.
How many people will be on the boat?
The maximum group size is 12 people on a shared tour. The boat is a luxury yacht equipped with a bathroom, changing cabins and a hot-water shower, so even on a full departure the space doesn't feel cramped.
What happens if the Blue Grotto has a long wait or is closed?
The tour includes an estimated wait time of up to 60 minutes for Blue Grotto entry. If waiting times would significantly cut into the rest of the experience, or if the grotto is temporarily closed by authorities, the skipper may skip it and proceed with the other four caves, sea stops and sights. In that case, no refund is issued, as the full itinerary minus the grotto is still provided.
Is the aperitif and drinks service included?
Yes. Prosecco, limoncello, beer, water and soft drinks are included, along with local snacks and an aperitif served onboard. The Blue Grotto entrance ticket is not included and is purchased separately at the site.
