The experience
The boat leaves from Capri's coast and circles the island, stopping at three landmarks that define it. The Blue Grotto is the most famous: a sea cave with a small entrance that frames the water in shades of light and intense blue, and the guide explains its place in Capri's history and art. The Green Grotto sits on the opposite side of the island and shows the crystalline green water that only appears from the sea. Between them, the Faraglioni (three stacks of rock rising from the water) are the shape Capri is known by worldwide. The guide shares the legends tied to them and you can photograph and film freely.
Swimming breaks happen in the coves and near the caves, so you get time in the water at the most beautiful corners the tour reaches. The boat is small enough to enter the cave openings and navigate the narrow passages along the coast that bigger vessels cannot access. A local sailor leads the tour and knows the secrets and stories of the island. You choose whether the guide speaks to you in English, Spanish or Italian at the time of booking.
Bottled water and soda are on board. The tour runs three hours and covers the full circuit of the island's most dramatic seaward side, with the pace built around the stops and the swimming time rather than rushing between them.
