The crossing itself is part of the day — you're traveling to an island that sits in the Tyrrhenian Sea, and the ferry ride gives you the approach most visitors remember. Once you arrive at Marina Grande, the tour shifts to a minibus that takes you along the famous "Mamma Mia Road" toward the Blue Grotto, the single most photographed cave on the island.

At the Blue Grotto, you transfer to a small rowboat and the skipper guides you through the narrow opening. The cave is only about four feet high at the entrance, so you'll lie back in the boat as you pass through — this is not a metaphor or a marketing detail, it's the physical reality of how the cave works. Once inside, the water glows an otherworldly blue because of the way light reflects off the seabed through the narrow opening above. You'll have time to float there and take it in before the boat turns back out.

From the Blue Grotto, the minibus takes you to Anacapri, the second-largest town on the island, where you have free time to eat at a local restaurant, browse the craft shops, or simply walk around.
