The experience
The boat leaves Amalfi's Molo darsena and hugs the coastline for four hours, passing limestone cliffs, hidden caves and the villas that cling to the rock face. You'll pass the Natural Arch, Sofia Loren Villa and the Fiordo di Furore (a narrow fjord carved into the cliff) before reaching Praiano and Positano. The guide points out the Runghitiello cave, the Devil cave and the Sailor cave as you motor past, and at three stops along the way you get in the water to swim and snorkel with the equipment on board.
The boat holds a maximum of six passengers, so the group stays small and the captain can adjust the route based on conditions and what the group wants to linger on. Stops include the Waterfall of Marmorata, where you can swim beneath the cascade, and Atrani, the smallest municipality on the coast. A live guide narrates in English or Italian throughout the tour. Gasoline and drinks are included in the price.
Lunch is not part of the booking, though the itinerary notes restaurants along the coast where you can eat if you want to extend the day. The boat departs from Amalfi's main dock, and the full circuit takes four hours.
