Summary

Overnight Camel Trekking Adventure in Rajasthan

If you want to escape busy tourist spots and really feel the desert’s quiet magic, this overnight camel safari is for you. You’ll ride friendly camels to secret dunes, eat fresh-cooked meals by firelight, and sleep under more stars than you ever thought possible.

experience

What’s the experience like?

The first thing that hit me was the dry, earthy scent as we left the edge of Jaisalmer behind. Our guide, Ba, knew every camel by name—mine was called Raju, a gentle giant with surprisingly soft eyes. The camels plodded along quietly, their hooves making a soft crunch on the sand. After about an hour, we passed a tiny chai stall where locals waved and shouted greetings. It felt like we were slipping into another world—no traffic noise, just wind and the occasional call of a desert bird.

By late afternoon, we reached a stretch of untouched sand dunes—no crowds or vendors here. Just us, the camels, and endless golden waves. The sun started to dip low and everything turned gold-orange; I could feel the temperature drop as evening crept in. Our guides set up camp right there on the sand. Dinner was cooked over an open fire—simple dal and chapati—but somehow it tasted better than any restaurant meal back in town. We sat around swapping stories while sipping sweet chai under a sky packed with stars (honestly, I’d never seen so many). In the morning, I woke up to silence except for distant camel bells and the smell of strong coffee brewing over hot coals.
