The experience

The tour starts at Mystic Jaisalmer Hotel with tea or coffee, then moves by jeep through cultural villages and the Desert National Park to reach the open desert. You'll spend around 2 hours on camel across the Great Thar Desert, watching the landscape shift as you approach the dunes where you'll spend the night. The local camel handlers provide entertainment and manage the animals throughout the ride.

Accommodation is on the sand dunes themselves: you sleep under the open sky on a mattress with blankets, with no tent between you and the stars. Dinner is served with Indian curry (less spicy options available), and unlimited water bottles keep you hydrated through the evening and into the next morning. Breakfast follows the sunrise, then a second camel safari takes you back toward Jaisalmer before the shared jeep returns you to the city.

The itinerary includes two named stops: Longewala War Memorial and Kuldhara Village, a ghost town where historical houses show how desert communities once lived. Desert National Park fees are covered in the price, so the only costs beyond the tour are optional drinks available for purchase at camp.
