The Experience
After pickup from your hotel, you'll head to Longewala War Memorial, a significant historical site, then continue to Kuldhara Village — a 13th-century abandoned settlement with a documented history the guide will walk you through. From there, the camel safari begins: you'll ride across the serene dunes for roughly 45 minutes, timing the route to catch the sunset from the desert before arriving at the camping area.
At the camp, you're greeted in traditional Rajasthani style with tea and snacks in the courtyard. The cultural program follows, featuring live folk music and dance — including Kalbelia, one of Rajasthan's most recognized dance forms, performed by musicians in colorful turbans and dancers in mirror-studded black clothing. Dinner is a vegetarian buffet served at the campfire on the dune itself. The Swiss luxury tents are fully equipped for a comfortable night's sleep in the desert; you'll wake to breakfast before the drive back to the city.
The overnight format means you experience the desert across two distinct moments: the golden-hour camel ride and the quiet of the dunes after dark. Children from age 1 are welcome, though infants must sit on an adult's lap during the camel ride. The 18-hour commitment keeps the rest of your day free — either a morning arrival or an evening departure works with this schedule.
