Three snorkeling stops around Nusa Penida's coast in a single day

Snorkel Nusa Penida with a professional guide, spending six hours on the water around the island's south, west and north coasts. You'll stop at Manta Point, Crystal Bay and drift dive sites in the north, swimming with manta rays (when they appear), hard and soft corals and larger marine life. The boat leaves the dive center after a 45-minute ride to the island. Lunch and all snorkeling gear are included. Children from age 5 are welcome, and the guide speaks English, Chinese, Japanese or Romanian.

The experience

The day starts at the dive center where the operator fits your equipment and goes over the plan. Then a 45-minute boat ride takes you to Nusa Penida. From there you'll move along the island's coast (starting at the south, traveling up the west side toward the north), and stop at three separate snorkeling sites. Manta Point is the headline: the water there draws the rays, though they don't appear every day. Crystal Bay and the drift sites in the north are the backup, each one offering different coral and marine life to explore.

You'll spend the entire day in and around the water with a guide who stays with the group. Snorkeling equipment (mask, fins, wetsuit if you need one) is provided and fitted to your height, weight and shoe size, which you'll need to tell the operator when you book. Lunch and bottled water come with the day, along with snorkeling insurance. The boat does the traveling between stops. You do the swimming.

The six-hour duration includes the boat ride out and back, so the actual time in the water is less than that. Exact travel times depend on traffic and the time of day you depart. If you have specific dietary needs, let the operator know at booking: vegetarian options are available.
