You're picked up early from your Seminyak hotel and taken to Sanur to board a public boat to Nusa Penida. Spend three hours snorkeling at Manta Bay, Crystal Bay and other sites depending on conditions, then visit Broken Beach, Angel Billabong and Kelingking Beach on the island. Lunch, snorkeling gear, towel and all transport are included. The boat returns to Sanur by late afternoon, with hotel drop-off around 5:30pm.

The Experience

The pickup arrives between 6 and 6:30am — early enough that Seminyak is still quiet. You ride to Sanur harbor, check in around 7:30, and by 8am the boat is moving toward Nusa Penida. The crossing takes an hour. Most people sleep or stare at the water. Then the boat slows, and the guide points: Manta Bay. The water is so clear you see the sand thirty feet down, and if the weather holds and the mantas are feeding, you're in the water with them within minutes. They're huge and gentle, nothing like what you imagined from photos.

The snorkeling rotation depends on conditions — Manta Bay, Crystal Bay, Gamat Bay, The Wall, GT Point — the guide reads the weather and the current and picks the spots that work that day. You get maybe three hours in the water across two or three sites, with a break between dives. Around 11:30 you eat lunch on the boat or back at the harbor, nothing fancy but enough. Then the island part starts: Broken Beach, where the sand curves into a perfect half-moon and a stone arch frames the view. Angel Billabong next, a tidal pool so still it looks photoshopped. Last is Kelingking Beach, the one with the cliff that looks like a T-Rex head if you squint. You're back at the harbor by 3:15pm, check in your return ticket, and the boat leaves Sanur around 4:30pm. You're dropped at your hotel by 5 or 5:30pm.

The whole day is 10 hours door-to-door, which sounds long until you realize you've swum with rays, eaten lunch on a boat, and stood on three different beaches without arranging transport or worrying about timing. The group stays small — public boat but not packed — and the gear is included, so you show up with just a towel and sunscreen. Weather can shift things around; if the manta sites are rough, the guide moves to GT Point or The Wall instead, and the island stops stay the same either way.
