The experience
The day starts with hotel pickup in an air-conditioned car, then a public speedboat carries you across to Nusa Penida Island: about an hour on the water. Once you arrive at the port, you board either a shared or private snorkeling boat (depending on which option you chose) and head straight to the first site. Crystal Bay and Wall Point open the morning. The water is clear enough to see the reef structure and the fish moving through it. Two more stops follow at Gamat Bay and Manta Bay, each with its own depth and marine life. You spend roughly two hours in the water across all three sites, with the boat crew managing the timing and the transitions between stops.
Snorkeling gear (mask, fins and life jacket) comes with you, and the crew fits everything before you enter the water. An underwater camera operator shoots footage on a GoPro throughout the trip, so you get the video of what you saw without managing the equipment yourself. A towel is provided, and the boat carries fresh water. The return speedboat leaves Nusa Penida in the early afternoon (morning trip) or late afternoon (afternoon trip), and you're back at your hotel by 13:00 or 17:30 depending on which departure you picked.
The shared boat option puts you with other snorkelers on the same vessel. The private boat is yours alone. Both include the same three reefs, the same guide, the same GoPro service and the same speedboat transfers. The choice is really about how many people you want on deck and in the water with you.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (5 to 6 years). Under 5: they can't be included in the booking.

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24h before the start.
What's the water like at Crystal Bay and the other snorkeling sites around Nusa Penida?
Crystal Bay and Wall Point offer clear water and healthy reef structure visible from the surface. Gamat Bay and Manta Bay each have their own marine life and depth. The operator describes the water as crystal clear, and visibility depends on tide and season: the morning trip generally encounters calmer conditions than the afternoon one.
Do I need snorkeling experience, or is this okay for a beginner?
Beginners are welcome. The crew provides all equipment (mask, fins and life jacket), and fits it before you enter the water. You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness and be comfortable in the ocean. The trip is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, cardiovascular concerns or pregnancy.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to bring?
Included are hotel pickup and return in an air-conditioned car, speedboat transfers to and from Nusa Penida, snorkeling equipment, a towel, underwater GoPro footage, a live English-speaking guide and government tax. Bring a change of clothes and a light snack or purchase lunch in Sanur before departure. Lunch is not provided on the boat.
Can I choose between the morning and afternoon trip, or is one better than the other?
You choose at checkout. The morning trip departs at 06:30 and returns by 13:00. The afternoon trip leaves at 10:30 and returns by 17:30. Morning generally means calmer water and better visibility, while the afternoon option suits a later start if you're not an early riser.
Is the speedboat to Nusa Penida a public boat or private?
The transfer speedboat is public. You share it with other passengers heading to the island. The snorkeling boat itself is either shared or private depending on which option you book. Only the private snorkeling boat option is yours alone.
