The fast boat leaves Sanur port at 7:30am, and by mid-morning you're in the water at Manta Bay on Nusa Penida's southwestern coast. This is where the real thing happens. The manta rays here can reach seven meters across, and they're harmless, which somehow makes it easier to just float there and watch them move. You get snorkeling equipment (mask, fins, life jacket, underwater camera if you want it), and the boat either stays shared or goes private depending on your booking. Crystal Bay comes next, with coral reefs still mostly untouched, then Gamat Bay on the western side where the current runs strong enough that you feel it: the guides know the timing, so it's not reckless, just real.
After snorkeling, there's a lunch break at a local restaurant (you pay separately there), and then the island part starts. Broken Beach is the one with the massive hole carved through the cliff by waves. You stand on top and look down into this tunnel of stone and water.
