The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup and a ride to Sanur Harbour, where you board a public fastboat to Nusa Penida. Once there, a private car and English-speaking guide take you to the island's landmarks: Kelingking Beach, with its dramatic T-Rex-shaped cliffs and turquoise water; Broken Beach, where a circular rock formation frames the ocean; and Angel Billabong, a natural pool. Lunch is included between the land stops.

The snorkeling happens at three separate bays. Crystal Bay has calm, sheltered waters with soft sand and coral reefs visible even to first-time snorkelers. Gamat Bay sits in shallow areas where you can see colorful fish, sea turtles and invertebrates without going deep. Manta Bay combines dramatic cliffs above water with vibrant coral and diverse marine life below: the contrast between the rugged coastline and the clear water is what makes it stand out from the other two. All snorkeling equipment is provided, and you pick your boat type at checkout: a private boat if you want to set your own pace, or a group boat if you prefer to share the cost.

The return fastboat is public and included. The whole day runs between five and ten hours depending on which option you choose and how long you spend at each site. This is not a guided snorkel in the sense of an instructor leading you underwater. You're free to explore on your own with the gear, and the guide is there on the boat and at the beach stops. Moderate fitness is expected because of the boat travel and the time in the water.
