The experience
The fast boat leaves Sanur Harbor at 7:45 am after a 30-minute wait in the departure zone. You'll arrive at Toya Pakeh Harbor on Nusa Penida and move straight into the water. Manta Bay is the main stop: a plankton-rich area where giant manta rays gather to feed and clean themselves. The rays are drawn to the nutrients and currents, so encounters happen often, though the exact timing depends on the season and water conditions. Your guide stays with you throughout, and the snorkeling equipment (mask, fins, life jacket) is ready when you board.
Gamat Bay comes next, a protected nursery for reef fish with small caves and crevices carved into the seafloor. The water is exceptionally clear, and the variety of invertebrates and small fish here is dense. Crystal Bay, on the eastern side, sits beneath steep cliffs and holds shallow water between rocks where you can rest between dives. Hard and soft corals thrive in the nutrient-rich current, and you'll see reef fish, sharks, stingrays and turtles. The sites are reachable only by boat, and your guide handles the navigation and timing so you focus on what's below the surface.
Lunch happens on the island, Indonesian flavors, included. Your private driver collects you from your hotel in the morning and returns you at the end of the day with no stops for other travelers. The whole day runs 7 to 8 hours from pickup to drop-off. Non-swimmers can join. The guide acts as instructor and the safety gear is designed for that. Bring sunscreen, a change of clothes, comfortable shoes and a camera. Cash or card covers any extras you want on the island.

Is this one for you?Choose the hotel pickup option if you want to avoid the early morning logistics of reaching Sanur Harbor yourself. The driver handles the timing and you arrive ready to board. If you're staying near Sanur or prefer to arrange your own transport, the 7:30 am port meeting saves the pickup fee and works just as well.
