The experience

You arrive at one of three departure points (Sanur, a shuttle pickup, or directly at the venue), and board a boat with a small group and an English-speaking guide. The boat heads out to Manta Bay first, the most famous of the four stops, where the water is clear enough to see the seabed and manta rays sometimes glide through, though sightings are not guaranteed. From there you move to Crystal Bay, known for colorful coral reefs and schools of small fish that dart around you as you swim.

The third stop is Gamat Bay, quieter and more sheltered, where coral gardens spread across the bottom and sea turtles occasionally pass overhead. The final site is Wall Bay, where blood-red coral rises along deep underwater walls and dense schools of fish move through the water. Throughout the 2.5 hours, your guide stays with the group, and a GoPro camera captures photos and video of the underwater scenes you encounter (the flying fish, the turtles, the coral formations), so you leave with footage of what you actually saw.

Snorkel gear and fins are provided, along with a towel and mineral water between stops. The boat returns to your departure point by mid-morning, leaving the rest of your day free.
