The experience
You arrive in Ha Giang with a free afternoon or morning and want to see the province's ethnic villages and mountain terrain without renting your own bike. The Easy Rider format puts you on the back of a motorbike with a local guide who navigates the Ha Giang Loop: the winding mountain route that connects the region's main towns and passes. The ride covers Tam Son, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac, stopping at Red Dao and Hmong settlements, local markets, the Hmong King Palace and Ma Pi Leng pass, one of the loop's steepest sections. Groups stay small, between 2 and 8 riders, so the pace can adjust to the group's comfort level.
Meals are included across both days: breakfast, lunch and dinner, eaten at local spots or homestays where you also meet the families living in these mountain communities. Bottled water comes with you on the ride. The guide speaks English and knows the villages, the cultures and the history of the Red Dao, Hmong and Tay peoples who live here. You're not watching a demonstration or sitting in a van. You're on the bike, moving through the landscape and stopping where the guide chooses to show you something: a market, a palace, a pass, a family's home.
Hotel pickup is included, so you don't arrange your own transport to the starting point. The two days and one night structure means you sleep in a local homestay or guesthouse on the loop itself, not returning to town each evening. This keeps you in the mountains for the full experience rather than commuting in and out.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (13 to 24 years); Child (4 to 12 years); Infant (under 4): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the difference between the Ha Giang Loop and other motorbike tours in northern Vietnam?
The Ha Giang Loop is a specific 200-kilometer circuit through Ha Giang Province that connects Tam Son, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac. It's known for steep mountain passes like Ma Pi Leng and for passing through villages of ethnic minorities (Red Dao, Hmong and Tay) rather than touring cities or major tourist sites. This tour follows that loop over two days with stops at homestays, markets and cultural landmarks like the Hmong King Palace.
Do I need my own motorbike license, or does the guide handle the riding?
You ride as a passenger on the back of the guide's motorbike. The guide does all the riding and navigation. No license is required on your part.
Where do I sleep on the first night?
You stay in a local homestay or guesthouse in the Ha Giang mountains, likely in or near Dong Van or Meo Vac town. The exact location depends on the group's pace and the guide's choice, but it's part of the mountain experience rather than a return to the city.
What are Red Dao and Hmong cultures, and what will I actually see?
Red Dao and Hmong are ethnic groups native to northern Vietnam's mountains. On this tour you visit their villages and homestays, see how they live, and learn about their traditions from the guide. The Hmong King Palace is a historical site built by a Hmong leader in the early 1900s. You also pass through local markets where these communities buy and sell goods.
Is the motorbike ride difficult if I've never been on a bike before?
The tour is called Easy Rider and is suitable for all physical fitness levels. You're a passenger, not driving, so no riding skill is needed. The roads are mountain terrain with curves and elevation changes, but the pace is steady and the guide is experienced with the route.
What happens if I'm uncomfortable with the motorbike or the mountain roads?
The small group size (2 to 8 riders) means the guide can adjust the pace and stops to the group's comfort. If you have concerns about the ride itself, discuss them with the operator before booking. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or pregnant travelers.
