The experience
The Ha Giang Loop is a 3-day ride through northern Vietnam's highest and most remote passes. You start after breakfast on day one, heading toward Quan Ba to cross Bac Sum Pass and see the Twin Mountains in Tam Son, then stop at Lung Tam village to watch local people make traditional clothes. The route continues to Yen Minh for lunch, then climbs toward Dong Van, where you visit the H'Mong King palace in Sa Phin valley before settling into your overnight homestay or hotel in Dong Van town.
Day two takes you through Dong Van's ancient town and centuries-old market, then to Ma Pi Leng Pass: one of Vietnam's four highest and most dangerous passes. After lunch in Mau Due, you ride Sa Li Pass and stop at Lung Ho Viewpoint for photos before reaching Du Gia village for the night. The final morning is a swim at Du Gia Waterfall in cool water, then the ride back through Quan Ba and Bac Sum Pass, arriving in Ha Giang city by 4pm. Your guide handles the route, timing and stops. You ride as a passenger on the motorbike.
Transport, fuel, a Vietnamese-speaking guide, all entry tickets and the park permit are included. Meals are provided throughout the three days.
