The experience
The tour runs four hours total, including navigation time, and moves at the pace of the boat rather than a fixed schedule tied to land. You board in Positano and head along the coast, passing Praiano by water to see it from the perspective most visitors miss. The Furore fjord comes early in the route: a narrow inlet where the coastal road briefly leaves the ridge and hangs over the water, creating what the operator calls one of the most photographed corners of the entire coast. The boat slows so you can take in the geometry of it.
The Emerald Grotto is the named stop, a sea cave open daily from 9am to 3pm (Mondays until 2:30pm) when weather and sea conditions allow. Entry costs 7 euros, paid at the cave entrance, and waiting time typically runs 25 to 50 minutes depending on the day. After the grotto, the route passes Conca dei Marini, a fishing village built into a rocky inlet, and continues toward Amalfi itself. The captain can arrange a stop in Amalfi town if the group wants to walk the village. Otherwise the boat stays on the water. Snorkeling equipment is aboard, and you can anchor to swim in the open sea.
Included are an aperitif and prosecco, beer, bottled water, snacks and noodles. Towels, a shower and bathroom are available on board. A Bluetooth speaker plays music. The boat is private to your group, no strangers join, and the guide speaks live English or Italian throughout the day.
