The experience
You're picked up from your hotel and driven to the private dock, where your luxury boat and captain are waiting. The boat is yours for the day: no shared seating, no schedule set by other groups. Your live guide speaks English or Italian and knows the hidden corners of the island: the grottoes most tour boats miss, the stories behind the Faraglioni rocks, the Roman history of Bagni di Tiberio where emperors once bathed. The boat carries snorkeling masks and fins, so you can drop into the water whenever the captain finds a calm spot.
The route moves through the sea caves in sequence. You'll enter the Blue Grotto through its narrow, low entrance and float in the iridescent blue light. The Green Grotto glows with emerald water and stalactites shaped like praying saints. You'll pass the Red Grotto and White Grotto, cross the Mermaid's Rock from Homer's Odyssey, and stop at the Faraglioni: the four famous rock formations that define Capri's silhouette. At Punta Ventroso, the boat anchors and you swim, sunbathe and eat: an aperitif arrives with mixed appetizers, brunch featuring local specialties, and drinks. Water, beer, prosecco, limoncello, spritz. The captain can point the boat toward Malaparte Villa or the Punta Carena lighthouse if conditions allow.
After roughly 4 hours on the water, you disembark in the town of Capri with about 4 hours free time. You can take the funicular up to the center to shop in the boutiques, eat lunch, or walk to the Blue Grotto by land and visit it again. The boat provides a brochure to help you choose. When you're ready, the captain picks you up and returns you to your hotel. The total time from pickup to drop-off is 7 to 8 hours. External factors like weather or sea conditions may extend it slightly.
