The experience

The boat leaves Positano and sails east along the Amalfi Coast, passing old defensive towers, hidden beaches and sea caves built into the cliffs. Furore Fjord appears next: a natural river inlet where colorful fishermen's houses sit above a tiny beach tucked between steep rock walls. From the water, Amalfi itself comes into view: bell tower of the Cathedral of St. Andrew rising above pastel rooftops. The route then crosses toward Capri through the marine protected area of Punta Campanella, where the water clarity shifts noticeably.

Once at Capri, the tour visits three of the island's sea grottoes. The White Grotto has walls of pure white limestone. Sunlight filters through the rocks to light the crystal-clear water below. The Faraglioni rocks (four imposing formations including Saetta, Monacone, Stella and Scopolo) rise offshore. You stop to photograph them. The Green Grotto is where you swim: the water glows emerald from minerals and light, and stalactites hang from the ceiling. Entry to the Blue Grotto depends on conditions (wind, swell, boat queues can exceed an hour), so it is available on request. After three hours ashore at Marina Piccola, an elegant waterfront site, you eat lunch at a traditional restaurant and walk inland if time allows.

The return journey includes a stop at Li Galli, the archipelago known as the mermaids' islands from Homer's Odyssey. The main island is shaped like a dolphin. You swim and snorkel in clear, calm water. The boat arrives back in Positano with prosecco on deck. A toilet and canopy shade are on board. The vessel is a traditional Gozzo built in 2023 or 2025, 26 feet long.

What’s included

  • Prosecco, beer, limoncello and Aperol Spritz in a cooler.
  • bottled water, lemon soda and Coca-Cola.
  • dry snacks including chips, peanuts and olives.
  • a traditional Gozzo boat 26 feet long with a toilet and canopy shade.
  • three hours of free time in Capri to visit Marina Piccola and eat lunch at a waterfront restaurant of your choice.

Is this one for you?The boat holds six passengers maximum, so the group stays small and the pace is flexible: your guide adjusts stops and timing based on conditions and what the group wants to do, which means you can linger at a grotto or skip the Blue Grotto if the sea is rough.
