You travel by private vehicle with a driver for four days, visiting rice terraces, waterfalls, temples and beaches across Bali's highlands and coast. Stops include Tegalalang and Jatiluwih rice fields, Kintamani volcano views, Ulun Danu Beratan and Tanah Lot temples, Lempuyang's Gateway to Heaven, and Jimbaran Beach. Meals and entry fees are included in Option 2 pricing; Option 1 covers transport only. Hotel pickup and flexible timing mean you set the pace.
The rice terraces at Tegalalang don't look real until you're standing in them. Rows of green slope down a hillside so steep you wonder how anyone plants anything there, let alone harvests it—and yet Balinese farmers do, using irrigation systems that have worked for centuries. This is the first stop on a four-day private tour of Bali that moves at your pace, not a schedule. You get a driver and a private vehicle for the entire trip, which means no waiting for other groups, no rushing through a temple because the bus needs to move on. If you want to linger at Tegalalang or skip the jungle swing, that's your call.
Day one loops through Ubud's surroundings: a traditional Balinese house compound in Batuan village where the architecture tells you how people actually live here, then Tegalalang's rice fields, then up to Kintamani in the highlands where Mount Batur rises across a lake and lunch is included. A coffee plantation stop lets you taste Balinese coffee and ginger tea while looking out over the valley. By evening you're at Tegenungan Waterfall, close to Ubud, and the day ends with a Barong dance performance in Batubulan—that's the dramatic masked dance you see in every Bali guidebook, except you're watching it live. Day two heads north to the cooler uplands: Wanagiri Hidden Hills for views over two lakes, a moderate 500-meter walk down to Banyumala's twin waterfalls where you can swim in a natural pool, then Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, which sits on a lake and looks like it's floating. Jatiluwih Rice Terraces come next—wider, more open than Tegalalang, planted with larger crops and famous for organic farming. The day ends at Tanah Lot Temple, perched on a rock in the ocean, best visited near sunset.
Day three takes you east to Lempuyang Temple, known as the Gateway to Heaven—it's the Instagram spot where you stand in a stone gate with Mount Agung volcano in the background and it does look like you're standing in the sky. Tirta Gangga Water Palace in Amlapura is next, an old royal compound with eleven-tiered fountains and tropical gardens. Kanto Lampo Waterfall, with its layered stone formations, is another photo stop on the way back toward Ubud. The final day swings south to the beaches and temples: Nusa Dua for a 15-minute banana boat ride if you want it (water sports are extra), Uluwatu Temple on a cliff overlooking the ocean, and Jimbaran Beach, where the seafood market runs along the sand. You can arrange a beach dinner there or just walk through and watch the boats.
The tour comes in two pricing options. Option 1 is driver and vehicle only—you arrange your own meals and pay entry fees as you go. Option 2 includes all temple and attraction entry, the Barong dance show, and meals throughout, though activities like jungle swings and water sports cost extra. Either way, pickup happens from your hotel and the itinerary can shift based on what you want to see. The whole thing runs four days; you're not locked into a rigid schedule, and your driver knows the roads and can answer questions about what you're passing.
