Summary

Ubud’s waterfalls temples and rice fields with a local’s touch

You’ll cool off at Kanto Lampo waterfall, wander silent temple grounds in Sebatu village, share lunch in a leafy jungle restaurant, and stroll Tegalalang’s famous rice terraces with your Balinese guide. Expect small surprises — laughter by the river or a taste you can’t forget — plus all entry fees, hotel pickup, and local stories along the way.

experience

What’s the experience like?

“Careful, the rocks get slippery here,” Wayan grinned as we shuffled down to Kanto Lampo waterfall. I could hear the water before I saw it — that low rush echoing off the stone. The air felt cooler down by the river, almost sweet with wet leaves. I didn’t expect to laugh so much trying to balance on those stones for a photo (my shoes still haven’t dried). There were a few other travelers but mostly locals cooling off — one little kid splashed his dad and everyone cracked up. It felt good to just watch for a minute.

After that, we wound through narrow roads past shrines tangled in vines. The Sebatu temple was quiet except for koi flicking in the ponds and a woman arranging tiny baskets of flowers. Wayan explained how people come here for blessings — he pointed out the carvings but honestly I was more distracted by the sunlight catching on all that green. Lunch was in this jungle spot where birds made more noise than our group. The fried tempeh was crisp and salty; I still think about that sambal.

Tegalalang rice terrace looked almost unreal — like someone painted all those lines into the hills. We walked along the edge with a farmer who nodded hello (I tried to say “selamat siang” right and probably butchered it). You can do the jungle swing if you want — two from our group did it and screamed their heads off. By then my legs were tired but I didn’t really mind, just watching light shift across the paddies while Wayan told us about his family’s farm growing up. So yeah, not everything went perfectly — my shirt got muddy, I lost track of time — but leaving Ubud that afternoon felt kind of peaceful anyway.
