The experience
Most snorkelers on Nusa Penida head to the western side (Manta Point, Crystal Bay, Kelingking Beach), where the crowds are thick. The eastern coast stays quiet and holds the same rich reefs and marine life without the traffic. You'll board a comfortable speedboat after gearing up at the school, and your guide will lead you through at least two or three sites along the colorful drop-offs, pointing out species and giving tips to help you spot what's there. The boat carries a professional freediving instructor who stays with your group the whole time.
The three-hour window covers the boat ride out, time at each reef, and the return to shore. Once you're back, you can rinse off with a hot shower, change into dry clothes, and share what you saw over coffee or tea. All snorkeling and freediving equipment is provided, along with a life vest, towels, and drinking water refills throughout the day. The briefing before you enter the water covers what to expect and how to move safely through the sites.
