The Experience
The day starts with hotel pickup in the morning, timed so you reach Sanur in time for the fast-boat departure to Nusa Penida. The boat operates on a fixed schedule, which is why the early start matters. Once you land on the island, a private air-conditioned car and driver-guide take you through the stops. All entrance tickets are included, so there is no stopping to buy them.
Raja Lima comes first—a pair of vacation spots near Pejukutan Village with reef and sea views where you can trek and explore. Then Molenteng Hill, where the steep climb rewards you with ocean views and views of small islands below. The trek is tiring, but the operator handles the route. Atuh Beach follows: a hidden cove surrounded by cliff tops with two entrances. The right side has concrete steps and the better view; the left has a free parking area but muddier steps. The guide will get you down safely either way.
Diamond Beach is the signature stop. The stairs descend the karst cliff like they are hanging from it, with rope railings carved into the rock by residents. The white sand and polygonal stone towers give the beach its name. You can swim in the calm water, explore the cove, and photograph the cliffs and formations. Lunch happens during the day with Indonesian food. The fast boat back to Sanur is included, and the driver returns you to your hotel when the tour ends.

What is the hanging staircase at Diamond Beach really like to climb down?
Diamond Beach's stairs are carved into the karst cliff with rope hand railings that local residents installed. Going down is challenging but safe, and many visitors photograph the stairs themselves because of how they look against the cliff face. You can swim in the calm water once you reach the sand.
How difficult is the trek up Molenteng Hill?
Molenteng Hill requires quite a bit of effort because the slope is steep, but the operator guides you through it. Once you reach the top, the view of the ocean and the small islands below makes the climb worthwhile.
Will I have time to swim at the beaches on this tour?
Yes. Atuh Beach and Diamond Beach both allow swimming. Atuh is a hidden cove where you can enjoy privacy, and Diamond Beach has calm water and white sand. The 12-hour tour gives you time at each stop to explore and swim.
What does the lunch include?
Lunch is Indonesian food, included in the tour price. It happens during the day between the stops.
Do I need to arrange my own transport to the boat in Sanur?
No. The tour includes pickup from your Bali hotel in the morning and drop-off when you return. The driver times the pickup so you arrive at Sanur in time for the fast-boat departure.
Is this tour suitable if I have mobility concerns or a back injury?
The operator does not recommend this tour for travelers with spinal injuries because of the steep climbs and the challenging stairs at Diamond Beach. If you have cardiovascular concerns or are pregnant, the operator also recommends checking before booking.
