The experience

You get picked up from your hotel and spend the day moving between five main stops at whatever pace suits you. The guide knows each place well enough to answer questions and shift the order if something catches your interest: the rice terraces in morning light, the waterfall in afternoon heat, the temple when it's quieter. The air-conditioned coach means you're not negotiating transport between sites or figuring out which minibus goes where. The driver handles the route and parking.

Tegalalang Rice Terrace sits 600 meters above sea level with stepped paddies cut into the hillside. There's a jungle swing here for photos if you want them. Tegenungan Waterfall is a short walk into tropical growth, popular enough that mornings tend to be less crowded. Batuan Temple is a working Hindu temple with intricate carvings and a fiber-palm roof, set beside the main road between Denpasar and Ubud. Tirta Empul Temple centers on a spring Balinese Hindus consider holy. You'll see people performing ritual purification in the temple pond. Celuk Village is where local artisans make silver and gold jewelry. You can watch them work. The Ubud Art Market stocks silk scarves, woven bags, statues and handmade goods, and it fills up as the day goes on.

The Ubud Monkey Forest, a nature reserve and temple complex in central Ubud, houses around 1,800 monkeys of the same species. Walking through the forest and temple grounds is part of the day, though the guide will tell you what to expect before you enter. Parking fees, fuel, local tax and the driver's time are all covered. You pay separately for any entrance fees and meals.
