The experience

Pick up starts between 7 AM and 11 AM from anywhere in Delhi NCR: your hotel, airport, or another location you name. Your driver takes you through the capital's landmarks: Qutub Minar (a 12th-century minaret built in 1193), the Lotus Temple with its flower-like marble form, a pass by the Red Fort and India Gate, the Presidential Palace and Parliament House, then into Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk market and Jama Masjid. You'll ride a tuk-tuk through the narrow lanes and visit Khari Baoli, Asia's largest wholesale spice market, before stopping at Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO site and India's first garden tomb. Your guide recommends where to eat lunch, then the drive to Agra begins.

Day two starts before dawn. You're at the Taj Mahal gates for sunrise: the white marble mausoleum built by Shah Jahan in 1630 for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. A battery van takes you from the parking area to the gate. After exploring with your guide, you return to your hotel for breakfast, then visit Agra Fort (17th-century, UNESCO-listed) and the Tomb of I'timad-ud-Daulah, the first Mughal monument built entirely in white marble with intricate inlay work. Lunch follows a guide recommendation, then a comfortable drive to Jaipur and your hotel.

The final day in Jaipur starts after breakfast. Jaigarh Fort sits on the Aravalli hills, built in 1726 and home to the Jaivana Cannon, the world's largest wheeled cannon. The fort offers panoramic views of the city. Next is Hawa Mahal, the five-story palace with 953 small latticed windows built in 1799 from red and pink sandstone. The City Palace follows, still partly a royal residence with courtyards and a museum of royal costumes and weapons. Jal Mahal, a 17th-century palace in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, offers quiet views and photo spots. You'll eat lunch at a restaurant your guide suggests, then finish at Jantar Mantar, the UNESCO-listed ancient observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II with massive stone instruments for tracking celestial bodies. After sightseeing, your driver takes you back to Delhi or drops you at Jaipur Airport if that suits your departure better.
