The experience

Pickup happens from your Delhi hotel, residence or any of the three major airports (IGI, Hindon or Noida International) in a private air-conditioned car sized for your group. The 2:30 AM sunrise option includes breakfast after you see the Taj Mahal. Later departures let you choose lunch or dinner before returning. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one of five other languages and meets you near the first stop in Agra.

The Taj Mahal, built in 1632 by Emperor Shah Jahan, shows its full detail in daylight (the brilliant white marble, the inlay work, the Persian gardens), and your guide helps you photograph it from each principal aspect. Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Emperor Akbar in 1573, lets you walk its courtyards, palaces and halls, and view the Taj Mahal from its ramparts. Baby Taj, commissioned by Noor Jahan for her father, was the first Mughal structure built entirely from marble and the first to use pietra dura inlay work extensively. Its delicate craftsmanship is considered a jewel of Mughal architecture. Note: the Taj Mahal interior is closed every Friday for prayer, and no skip-the-line system exists at any of the monuments.

The return journey to Delhi happens in the same private car. Drop-off is available at any hotel, residence or airport across Delhi NCR, including the same three airports you departed from. The full day runs about 12 hours from pickup to drop-off. All parking, tolls, fuel and taxes are included. Bring a valid photo ID for monument entry.
