The experience

The day starts with pickup from your Delhi hotel or airport between 6:30 and 7:00 AM, in a private air-conditioned car that takes you to Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. The driver gets you to the right entrance with time to spare. You board the morning express train to Agra in Standard or Executive AC (depending on your option), and complimentary breakfast is served on board. The train ride takes roughly three hours. Other passengers share the coach, but your guide and sightseeing vehicle in Agra stay private to your group.

You arrive at Agra Cantt Railway Station around 9:45 AM, where your private guide and driver meet you. The Taj Mahal comes first: your guide walks you through the white-marble architecture, decorative inlay work and landscaped gardens while explaining the story of Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. Security screening is required before entry. Next is Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with fortified gateways, royal courtyards and audience halls. From certain areas you can see the Taj Mahal across the grounds. After the fort, you pause for a meal at a local or premium restaurant (lunch is optional and can be added at checkout). The day ends at the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, known as the Baby Taj: a riverside monument with finely detailed marble inlay and Persian-style gardens.

You board the return express train at approximately 5:50 PM, with complimentary supper served on board, and arrive back in Delhi around 7:30 PM. Your driver then transfers you to your hotel, residence or airport across Delhi NCR. The entire itinerary is 13 hours from start to finish. Bottled water and umbrellas are available during the Agra sightseeing. All monument entry tickets, train tickets, parking, tolls and driver allowance are included. You can upgrade to first-class train seating for an additional charge if available.

What's included in the train ticket, and is there a difference between Standard and Executive AC?

Round-trip express train tickets are included in both Standard and Executive AC options, along with complimentary breakfast on the outbound journey and supper on the return. Executive AC offers more spacious seating and amenities. Standard AC is the base option. You can upgrade to first-class seating for an additional charge if availability permits.

How does the pickup work if I'm staying outside Delhi or arriving at the airport?

Hotel or airport pickup is included and covers Delhi NCR, including Delhi IGI Airport, Hindon Airport and Noida International Airport in Jewar. Pickup is scheduled between 6:30 and 7:00 AM. If your hotel isn't listed during booking, select "My Hotel Is Not Listed" and enter it manually. If you're arriving by flight, provide your flight details at booking so the driver can track your arrival.

What happens if the express train tickets aren't available?

If train tickets are unavailable, the tour operator will notify you and provide a private car and driver for the full journey instead, with a refund for the train portion of your booking.

Is lunch included, and can I choose where to eat?
