The experience

You're picked up from your hotel, airport, or any location in Delhi, Noida, or Gurugram and spend the first day visiting the monuments of New Delhi itself: Qutb Minar, a 73-metre UNESCO tower built in 1193; the Lotus Temple with its distinctive flower-like architecture; India Gate, a war memorial near the Rajpath; and Parliament House and the Presidential Palace, which you pass by car. After lunch at a local restaurant, you drive three hours on the Yamuna Expressway to your hotel in Agra.

Day two starts before dawn. You head to the Taj Mahal to watch the sunrise, then spend approximately two hours inside with your guide, who explains how Mughal Emperor Shahjahan built it in 1630 as a tomb for his wife. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the New 7 Wonders. The Yamuna River runs behind it and the gardens frame the whole structure. After breakfast back at your hotel, you visit Agra Fort, another UNESCO site and the main residence of the Mughal Emperors, where your guide walks you through its palaces, balconies, and gardens. Then comes a five-hour drive to Jaipur, where you check in and rest.

Day three is the Jaipur city tour. After breakfast, you visit Panna Meena Ka Kund, a step well carved into the hillside, then head to Jal Mahal: a palace in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, renovated in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II, where you stop for photos. You spend an hour at the City Palace, built in 1721 as the seat of the Maharaja and now home to a museum and the royal family. Jantar Mantar, a collection of nineteen astronomical instruments built in 1734 and a UNESCO site, comes next. The day ends at Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds, a five-storey red and pink sandstone structure built in 1799. On day four, you drive approximately five hours back to Delhi, arriving around 2pm, or you can be dropped at Jaipur airport instead.

The car is private and sized to your group: a four-seater sedan for one or two people, a six-seater wagon for three or four, or a ten-seater van for five to ten. Your guide speaks English. Other languages (Spanish, French, German, and one more) are available if you request them when booking. Bottled water is provided during drives. If your hotel isn't listed in the booking system, you can manually enter it. If you want to change, add, or remove any monument from the itinerary, the operator will adjust it after booking. Shopping stops are optional. You choose whether to include them.
